The UK’s First Conference of Independent Currencies

3rd and 4th November 2014, Watershed Bristol

Seventy delegates representing currency schemes from around the country gathered together in Bristol in November 2014 for the UK’s first conference of independent currencies. These included representatives from Exeter, Cardiff, Taunton, Brixton, Lewes, Southampton, Kingston, Brighton, Grand Union Canal, Liverpool, Totnes and even Madison in Wisconsin.

Hosted by Bristol Pound and with a keynote speech by Transition Network founder Rob Hopkins, the conference launched the Guild of Independent Currencies to support the new wave independent currencies inspired by schemes in Totnes, Lewes, Brixton and Bristol.
